Medicated Lady to be a Mother

RoMedicated Lady has decided she needs a dog. Although she was sure 2 labs would make the perfect pets, she decided that perhaps two dogs as big as she is was not necessarily a good thing.

ML has spent days looking for a doggy at various shelters. She thinks it’s fine if other people want to pay for certain breeds but she personally thinks the money should go toward adopting them and for supporting the rescue organization. Plus, these dogs can be in these places for years.

ML has decided she wants a Beagle named Rosie. She doesn’t love the name but she doesn’t hate it either. Bryan says it would be too traumatic to change it because she’s an adult dog. Medicated Lady wonders if she can nickname her “Ro.” She does not know why this name seems better than Rosie but somehow it does.

Ro is supposed to be a calm dog and she’s a little thing. Although there’s a bit of fear for her mental health but ML can offer love and extreme emotional responses to both minute and grand-scale trauma/drama.

Bryan and another friend say she is adorable. They say she is perfection. ML can’t help but agree.

So the only impulsive behavior ML feels is to just go and adopt her as soon as possible. Forget formalities.

I always wanted a dog like that.

  2. She is going to change your life in ways that will be wonderful.

As far as names go – just don’t change it right away. Pet owners usually have nicknames for their animals that develop over time and that they respond to. For example, Tidbit has become Tippy. Buddy is Buddybear or, inexplicably, Mr. Boo. Holly Is Holly-Girl or Pretty Girl or Beautiful. And she responds to them all. So let her get settled and then you can start calling her what you want, but don’t do it at the exact same time as the transition. Ya heard?

I think you’re making the right choice and know you’ll be good for each other. And since I work right down the street, I can take her for walks at lunch.

  3. I would like to take a class on dogs. Maybe get my degree in them. Know any good programs?

  4. I can’t be bothered. I’m having a drink.

  5. Thank you, Joseph. It could have been OUR dog if only you’d have been a man. You were even short and I was in love with you.

Hence, Rosie will have no father but many beautiful queens as aunties.

Thank you, Bryan, for your kind offer. You will have to provide Rosie with the sanity she deserves. She will love you. I want to go get her now.

    J. Steed, you don’t need a dog. You need a stallion. I know of no trainings and will not be available to give you a crash course.

  6. B. Rubble. I think you’re the kind of guy who likes to meet dogs at Starbucks but already have a drink by the time the dog gets there and you don’t bother to offer to get her one. I cannot subject Rosie to such nonsense. Plus, you drive a scooter…you won’t even be able to take her anywhere.

  7. That is going to be one very lucky dogchild medicatedlady. I’m ecstatic for you as I myself adore critters to bits. That little regal beagle is gonna be spoiled rottener than snot, I can feel it! HUGS to you and Ro. 🙂 Would it be too much to request you post a photo of your lovely pup?

  8. Yes, Val dearest, I can oblige. 🙂 Everyone seems to think it will be a good thing for me.

  9. Ah ML….I love her!!! She’s awesome! But then if I only had to deal with dogs, (No humans allowed) I would be in bliss…I seriously dig you for getting Ro from the shelter…I was born in the year of the dog, I am kin to all canines….
    Fuck ya…
    You rock

  10. A dog’s love (unlike that of men/humans) is unconditional. I cannot think of a better way to give affirmation to the power of love in this world, than to adopt and nurture a thrown-away creature.

You will love her – but she will return your gifts a hundred fold by nurturing your soul.

  11. At this point, I’m still in the adoption process. My application is being reviewed…meaning I’m being judged as we speak. Just crossing my fingers I’m declared fit.

  12. Beagles are so cute. She is perfect for you!! I got Nicole at a pound and she is a wonderful dog. I do agree with Poeticgrin on the name change. She responds to Nicole just as much as she does to Doddlebutt! I am excited for you!!

  13. I can’t imagine you won’t pass muster… My wish for you is that she is nothing like Mugsy!

  14. OH MY GOD Medicatedlady, that is the most adorable little baby pup in the world! Give that sweet cute thing a kiss for me right on top of her beagle head. Know what this means don’t ya girlfriend? DOG POEMS!! Yessssssss bring em on!

Consider this my first puppy poem.

    you remind me of bubbles
the one the good witch Glenda rode in on
the one John Travolta had to live in because of his autoimmune disease

    you remind me of bubbles
the heart soar I felt whenever I saw them as a child

I hadn’t thought of bubbles in years
and then here you’ve come along and all I’m seeing are bubbles
